The Merc Co+op's Community Classroom is used primarily for co-op classes and events. When not in use, it is available for community members to reserve.
The classroom is available during The Merc Co+op’s hours of operation, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. There is a 3-hour limit on the use of the room.
Due to our unpredictable schedule, the room can be reserved only one meeting at a time, and not a on permanent or continuous basis. To see the current schedule, visit the co-op’s online events calendar.
There is no charge to use the Community Classroom.
RESERVING THE ROOM
To reserve the use of the Community Classroom, submit a Room Request form online, mail the paper form in to The Merc Co+op ( attn: Erin Shea), or turn it in at the customer service desk.
The room can be reserved two months in advance.
Please allow at least 3 days lead-time to process your request.
We will contact you to confirm your reservation.
GENERAL INFORMATION & ROOM USE GUIDELINES
The room is not intended for commercial use, business promotions, education seminars, any event for which a fee will be charged, or classes (except those sponsored by The Merc Co+op).
Requesting groups are responsible for setting up the room to fit their needs.
Projection & Display
A projector and screen are available for use upon request,
A dry erase board is permanently affixed to the east wall. Groups are responsible for providing their own dry-erase markers and erasers.
No tacks, nails or tape may be used or placed on doors or walls.
Open Square - 16 maximum
Classroom - 24 maximum
Theater - 30 maximum
Tables & Chairs
Eight 4' X 1 1/2' tables are available for use.
When moving tables and chairs, lift them to avoid scraping the floor and damaging the felt feet.
Do not remove chairs from the cafe seating area or bring them into the Community Classroom.
The room should be returned to its original set-up at the end of the meeting.
There is a helpful diagram on the north wall and markings on the floor to help with table placement.
Dispose of waste, wipe down all tables and sweep the floor.
A garbage can, broom and dustpan are available for use.
Food and Drink
No outside food or drink is allowed in the Community Classroom.
Food purchased at the co-op is welcome.
Please purchase all food or beverages before bringing them into the classroom.
No alcohol may be brought into the classroom.
Children are always welcome at The Merc Co+op and in the Community Classroom. For safety purposes, children must remain in the classroom unless accompanied by an adult.
Groups reserving The Merc Co+op’s Community Classroom accept full responsibility for care of the room and its contents and will be held liable for any damage caused to the co-op’s property. We reserve the right to grant or deny use of the Community Classroom to any requesting group.
Allowing a group to use the Community Classroom does not in any way constitute an endorsement by the co-op’s Board of Directors, management or staff of that group’s policies or beliefs, and no claim to that effect nor claim of the co-op’s sponsorship may be used, explicitly or implicitly, in advertising.
