About Our Newsletter

Connections is a 16-20 page quarterly publication of the The Merc Co+op in Lawrence, Kansas. “The Merc” was established as a natural foods consumer co-op in 1974 and has grown to become a successful, full-service natural food market and deli with over 7,000 owners. The publication's circulation is over 12,000 - 11,000 of which is mailed directly to our subscribers with additional copies available in store. The newsletter covers a wide range of topics related to food, wellness, health, cooking, local and sustainable agriculture and co-op and community news. 

Ad Specs

  • Standard ads are 2.25 inches wide by 3 inches tall.

  • Additional sizes may be available, depending on space. Contact the editor at News@TheMerc.Coop for details. Additional costs will apply.

  • Ads are full color, printed on high quality gloss paper.

Ad Rates Per Issue

With the magazine’s extended three month shelf life, display ads are $200 per issue, $190 for co-op owners. When placing your ad, be sure to mention you are a co-op owner.

Professional graphic design services are available to advertisers for an additional fee of $50 per hour. 


Because there is high demand for the limited display ad space in Connections, advertisers may have to wait until a space opens up. Advertisers interested in space in the newsletter are added to our waiting list and moved into the publication in the order they are added to the list.


Prices are for "camera-ready" ads sized to our requirements. Connections editors reserve the right to reject or cancel any advertising for any reason. No political advertising is accepted. No compensation or deductions will be allowed due to errors in ads or illegible copy. Payment required with order for first time advertisers. Repeat advertisers will be billed, accounts to be paid within 30 days of billing. 

Ad space in connections is limited. Inclusion is on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis.
