April Change Partner — Growing Food Growing Health

Our mission is to nourish and inspire personal health; build community through food; support and educate about local, sustainable food systems; and help feed those most in need. We serve our community by developing youth leaders who are committed to food justice and food equality. We hire students, ages 14–18, to be the stewards of our garden and to share our produce with our neighbors at no cost. In 2025 we distributed over 4,000 lbs. of high quality, organically grown produce through our weekly "Free Market" located on the grounds of the Ballard Center in north Lawrence. Our students work the weekly market and serve customers with great dignity and compassion, not only sharing food, but also building relationships.
