Our bi-annual Owner Appreciation Days savings event is one of the most valuable ways for your co-op to say thank you for your participation. Owners can save up to 20% on one shopping trip in the month of April.
All co-op owners are invited to attend monthly board meetings, held at the co-op, promoting transparency and accountability of the board with co-op owners.
Early in the agenda, the board reserves ten minutes of space to hear from owners who wish to address the board.
Need to join virtually? Email us.
The Merc Co+op’s Board of Directors is made up of seven co-op owners elected by the ownership to serve three-year terms. Any co-op owner is eligible to run for a board position.
The Board acts on behalf of co-op owners, responsible for guiding the overall vision of the co-op and monitoring progress toward that vision. To support this work, the board establishes policies that govern both themselves and the General Manager. The board works closely with the General Manager, who provides regular reports on store operations, including finances, customer satisfaction, and more.

Stop in for Free Health Screenings with students from the KU School of Pharmacy APhA-ASP Operation Heart and Operation Diabetes! Stop in for blood pressure testing from 9 – 11 a.m. or blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose testing from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the co-op.
Through the Academy of Student Pharmacists’ Operation Diabetes and Operation Heart initiatives, students administer screenings as part of their work to support patients with proactive screening.
Operation Diabetes:
Operation Diabetes seeks to increase overall awareness of diabetes and the role pharmacists play in prevention and managing the effects of diabetes. Conducting blood glucose screenings and educating the public on the risk factors for diabetes, the importance of medication compliance, and tight control on blood glucose student pharmacists can help individuals across the nation improve their quality of life.
As student pharmacists and future health care providers, students demonstrate how the profession of pharmacy serves as an excellent resource in preventing the morbidity and mortality associated with diabetes.
Operation Heart:
As the public’s most accessible health care provider, pharmacists can play a significant role in the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
As future health care professionals and patient advocates, student pharmacists can support these efforts and address an unmet need in public health by helping patients identify and understand their risks for CVD. Through public awareness, community outreach, and patient-specific education on cardiovascular risk factors, student pharmacists can empower patients to take control of their health and prevent cardiovascular disease before it starts.

Care for community is at the heart of our cooperative principles, and we believe we are made stronger by the diversity of cultures and backgrounds represented here.
As we reflect on how best to support our community in this moment, we're lifting up the work of El Centro Inc. On Thursday, February 19, we’re donating 3% of our store sales to El Centro, a co-op partner and our neighbor in KCK. El Centro strengthens communities and improves the lives of Latinos through education, service, advocacy, and opportunity.
From El Centro: “With the political rhetoric targeting our community on an almost daily basis, we must not give in to fear and anxiety, but instead assist our community by empowering them with knowledge to help keep themselves and their families safe.”
We believe food brings people together — and that supporting our neighbors matters. Learn more about their work and, if you’re able, you can give directly on their website: https://www.elcentroinc.com/ When you shop the co-op on February 19 for your usual grocery trip, you’re also helping uplift El Centro and the vital work they do.
