The Merc Co+op is excited to announce the recipients of the 2026 Change for our Community program. “Change” gives shoppers the opportunity to donate their spare change to local organizations every time they shop. Each month, a different organization is featured as the recipient, and 100% of all donations collected go to that specific organization.
Since the program began in January 2014, we have raised over $700,000 for local nonprofits.

All over the world, there are celebrations of the harvest and giving thanks. Though our gatherings may look different than in the past, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and share what we have. Preparing your holiday meal doesn’t have to be elaborate or stressful - here are some simple recipes to get you started.
Local season is in full swing! From tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and cucumbers, to summer squash, melons and peaches - make the most of the abundant produce our farmers have to offer this month. This produce is perfectly ripe and delicious; and, when you put locally grown and raised food on your table, you become part of a sustainable local food system.
Meet Beisecker Farms - a small commercial apple orchard located near Baldwin City, Kansas owned and operated by Tim Beisecker and his wife Andrea Norris.
Their operation has grown from 24 trees in 1978 to over 300 trees and 13 varieties today. You’ll find up to eight of those at the co-op through the end of September.
