GM Update — November 2025
from the General Manager, Seth Naumann
Over the past month, our co-op has faced its share of challenges. From winding down operations at our KCK store, to unexpected setbacks with the Lawrence walk-in freezer renovation, to the arrival of new competitors — it’s certainly been a full season. But as I reflect on this time, these obstacles aren’t what stand out most. What truly defines this moment in our co-op’s history is the resilience, spirit and celebration of our staff and our communities.
In October, we had the privilege of hosting a “Thank You” brunch for our KCK staff. With board members and our director team in attendance, we shared food, stories, laughter and camaraderie with a team we’ve worked so closely with and appreciate so deeply. Many staff have since told us how much the event meant to them — and I want to share that it meant just as much to me, to our directors and to our board.
This past weekend brought another special moment: our 51st Annual Co-op Meeting, held Saturday, November 8th, at the Ecumenical Campus Ministries building on the KU campus. It was a true joy to see so many familiar faces, share updates about the co-op, show appreciation for our outgoing board members and warmly welcome our newly elected ones. As I said at the meeting, our owners, our board and our shared ends are what truly define us — and what set us apart from other grocers.
I couldn’t be prouder of the generous communities we serve, the customers and owners we work for, the support of our dedicated board members and the incredible staff who make us the best food co-op and grocer in Kansas.

Gathering with family and friends for a Thanksgiving meal is a familiar ritual for many people, and we strive to serve our entire community well during this busy time of year. In recognition that the story of the first Thanksgiving perpetuates an inaccurate and harmful version of history, food co-ops across the country are making a collective donation to North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NATIFS) this November.
