GM Update — December 2025

from the General Manager, Seth Naumann

Investing in Our Team’s Future

The fifth cooperative principle is "Education, Training and Information." As leaders, one of the most meaningful parts of our work is preparing others for future opportunities. As we face the difficult reality of closing our Kansas City, KS store, this principle has guided us in ensuring our staff feel supported, empowered and prepared for what comes next.

Although we would love for every KCK team member to join us in Lawrence, we understand that commuting and transportation present real challenges. Because of this, we were intentional in providing staff with the skills and resources they need to secure gainful employment after our final days of operation.

Throughout the month of October, we hosted seven one-on-one educational clinics designed not only to help staff identify and secure comparable positions, but also to prepare them for future leadership roles. We began with two résumé clinics, helping staff articulate and market their existing skills in a format that is clear and compelling to potential employers. Next, we held two interview clinics focused on navigating challenging questions and confidently communicating strengths. To support their professional presence, we offered a clinic for updated headshots. Finally, we held two placement clinics to help staff envision their next steps and connect them directly to open positions through our vendor partners and community organizations.

We deeply appreciate every staff member who took part in these workshops. Supporting you through this process was genuinely rewarding for our leadership team, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us. As the end of the month approaches, we are saddened by the thought of no longer working alongside this incredible team — but we are also filled with pride and excitement for all you will accomplish in the future.

Cooperative Principles: Voluntary Ownership

It has been our honor and pleasure to serve our owners and shoppers in KCK the last half-decade, and we are thankful for your investment and support. Co-ops are a shared space for the community and by the community — and we are grateful for the role each of our owners plays in that shared vision.

Ownership at the co-op is voluntary, and shares are fully redeemable at any time. If you would like to redeem your share, please reach out to us.
