Hank & Roy

It is the co-op’s vision to support and strengthen community connections with our local producers — so here are their stories! In this Meet Your Producer series, we will highlight our neighborhood farmers, ranchers and producers so you can see and hear what they’re all about.

Joe Mosley, Hank & Roy Retail and Sales Rep, with his dog Rosie.

Hank & Roy is inspired by dogs who worked on cattle ranches in Missouri. The connection between dogs and their people is what guides their mission.

“We like to say we have as many dogs as people here,” said Joe Mosley, retail sales representative with Hank & Roy.

And it’s true.

Their tight-knit team of 5 full-time employees has 7 dogs between them. They have grown their start-up in just three years to selling at over 100 retail locations coast to coast.

As the business continues to grow, so does Hank & Roy’s vision. In the next couple years, all the phases of production will move under one roof. They’re also working to build relationships with reliable, local sources for their products.

About their products

The foundation of Hank & Roy’s product philosophy is natural, healthy chews, geared to support an active lifestyle with your pet, that are individually packaged so you can throw it in your bag and take it with you.

“We are dog owners, and that makes us believe in the products more strongly. That comes across in our customer service. We give these products to our dogs as well. I take pride in that,” said Joe.

Hank & Roy dog treats are single-ingredient (the only exception being the peanut butter bones, filled with peanut butter). “This is what dogs evolved eating. There’s nothing else, which simplifies it for pet owners. You don’t have to think about what’s in it.”

Each product is slow roasted for flavor and food safety. Their most popular product are their pigs ears, which are easily digestible and ideal for dogs who love to chew.

For the Hank & Roy team, the best part of the job isn't just making the treats, it's seeing dogs enjoy them. “We love hearing from consumers, getting videos of dogs enjoying their treats, seeing dogs and their people together. That’s the most fun.”
