KCK Location Updates

Earlier this month, we shared the news that our KCK location will close this December. As promised, we’re providing regular updates for our owners and shoppers as we move through this transition.

(Please note, the operating agreement termination applies to the Kansas City, Kansas location ONLY and does not impact the Lawrence location.

Adjusting Hours

Beginning July 16, KCK store hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. This change was made based on available staffing, with the goal of maintaining a high-quality shopping experience and reliable service for shoppers.

Staff Shout Outs

Congratulations to Joel, our Employee of the Quarter!

We want to recognize all the members of our small but mighty team in KCK. Thank you to Rose, Cameron, Ayende, Tre, Valeria, Latricia, Maeve and Charles — as well as our two managers, Tanisha and Joel. We can’t say enough how we appreciate their efforts to adapt and to improve the experience for our shoppers daily.

We’re exploring every opportunity to transition these dedicated employees to roles on our Lawrence team or to prepare them and support their search for placement elsewhere when the time comes.

This fall we’re coordinating regular workshops for resume building and interview skills, as well as providing on-site mental health resources through our Employee Assistance Program. More on those efforts in coming updates.

A Shared Investment

We also want to continue to acknowledge the care, energy and support that our shoppers and owners have poured into the KCK location. This space was built with intention — for the community, by the community — and it has stood as a powerful example of cooperation and vision in action. We’re grateful for the memories, milestones and everyday connections that shaped this store as we recognize five years of operating here.
