GM Update — October 2025

KCK Location
We’re providing regular updates for our owners and shoppers as the final date of our KCK location draws nearer. (Please note, the operating agreement termination applies to the Kansas City, Kansas location ONLY and does not impact the Lawrence location.)
Currently, eight staff members are employed at our Kansas City, Kansas store. Over the past few months, we’ve emphasized building transferable skills and increased training in ordering, task management and coaching. In the coming weeks, with the first workshop today, we’ll host seven clinics covering topics like résumé writing, interview skills, building a professional online presence and providing professional headshots for staff. We are grateful for the incredible work our employees do each day to maintain the quality of service shoppers have come to expect at our stores and their adaptability through this change.
We know the need for access to quality staples and fresh foods remains in downtown KCK, and our focus is on supporting our staff, our partners and our community to the best of our ability until our final day of operation. We will provide essentials like bread, milk, eggs and fresh produce and meat, and WIC-eligible products. However, shoppers will begin to notice a reduced selection and volume in other categories beginning this week.
Board Elections and Owner Appreciation Days
Our Board of Directors Elections take place through October 31. The Board of Directors represents all 9,900+ owners and shapes the vision for the co-op while evaluating the current performance of the business through Policy Governance. A strong and successful cooperative depends on a highly functional and effective Board. Your co-op needs your input in guidance and leadership to continue to thrive as a cooperative business.
